It was formed by flowing melted magma along the Wudaogou Valley that blocked the accumulated water in Wudaogou. The water surface is 150m long and 100m wide. Its elevation is 701m. Melted magma flew into water and condensed by water to form slag lavas just on the water surface. They look like a pair of inseparable Mandarin ducks. That’s the reason for its name, the Mandarin Duck Pool.
